美国机器视觉及自动化协会，成立于1984年，是北美唯一的致力于机器视觉工业发展的行业协会，在世界上享有很高的声望。AIA拥有全球范围内的240多个企业会员，包括主要的机器视觉部件和系统的制造商；机器视觉的用户；机器视觉系统集成制造商；大学及非盈利的研究机构；以及跟踪机器视觉工业的金融公司。大部分机器视觉领域的著名公司和研究机构都是其会员。作为AIA的企业会员可以以优惠的价格在机器视觉年度杂志上刊发广告，购买资料；在供应商目录中免费刊登公司及产品信息；免费做新品及研发成果公告；参加AIA每年一度的机器视觉研讨会，与全世界的同行交流技术，并获取最全面的市场信息等等。（上图为PPT 视觉公司总裁及AIA 、ATC 委员会委员Joe Christenson 先生）

    然而，中国市场上的机器视觉企业对AIA的认识却是不甚了了，目前只有北京和利时电机技术有限公司等少数几家企业加入该协会，成为其企业会员。为了让国内的机器视觉企业更好的了解AIA，最近，中国视觉网采访了Joe Christenson 先生。Joe Christenson 先生目前担任PPT 视觉公司总裁及AIA 和ATC 委员会委员。作为AIA 和 ATC 前主席，他在接受采访时表示，AIA及旗下会员均对于中国市场充满了无限的兴趣与信心。

    以下CV代表中国视觉网记者，Joe代表Joe Christenson先生。

1、CV：我们知道，AIA在国际机器视觉领域拥有非常高的声誉，我们注意到不断有新的会员加入贵协会，AIA事实上已经成为国际机器视觉企业的联合组织。中国机器视觉产业的从业者对AIA同样非常关注，他们希望更多了解AIA的发展历史及发展现状，因此在这里，请会长先生介绍向中国机器视觉的同行们介绍一下AIA成立至今的历史发展情况。

Joe：AIA was founded in 1984 as a part of the Robotic Industries Association (RIA).  As the machine vision industry grew and many applications developed that had little or no connection to robotics, AIA and RIA decided to form a new entity called the Automation Technologies Council (ATC) in which RIA and AIA would be equally represented.  That structure has benefited AIA greatly.  We have grown from some 20 member companies in the mid-1980s to more than 240 member companies from 25 nations, including China, today.  We are the worlds largest machine vision trade group and the only one with a global mission.

Joe：AIA是1984年作为机器人工业联合会（Robotic Industries Association，RIA）的一个分部成立的。机器视觉工业在不断的发展，而其中的许多应用与机器人没有什么关系，因此，AIA 和RIA决定成立一个由AIA和RIA共同参与的新实体：自动化技术委员会（Automation Technologies Council，ATC)。这使得AIA获益良多。从80年代中期仅有大约20个企业会员发展到如今包括来自于25个国家，包括中国在内，超过240个企业会员。我们是国际上最大的机器视觉行业组织，也是唯一致力于全球使命的机构。

2、CV ：AIA在世界机器视觉发展的进程当中，做出了非常杰出的贡献，这一点无疑有目共睹。那么，会长先生能否向中国同行介绍一下AIA每年都举办了哪些活动，例如会议、展览等，这些活动对于促进机器视觉技术与产品的发展起到了哪些作用？这些活动有没有可能邀请到更多的中国机器视觉同行前往参观？

Joe：AIA actively promotes the machine vision industry though activities such as The Vision Show (which alternates between the East Coast and West Coast in the United States) and the International Robots & Vision Show, which is held every two years in Chicago.  In-depth technical conferences accompany both of these shows.  We also hold stand-alone conferences each year on specific topics such as Machine Vision for Robot Guidance, Machine Vision for Pharmaceutical & Medical Applications, and our newest event slated for 2006, Machine Vision for Automotive Applications.

Other vitally important AIA activities include Machine Vision Online (www.machinevisiononline.org <http://www.machinevisiononline.org/> ), the worlds leading resource on the Internet for machine vision information. The site averages more than 70,000 visits per month and traffic is growing rapidly, especially from countries outside of the U.S., including China.

  In addition, we are the administrator for two very important standards activities:  Camera Link and GigE Vision.  These standards play an important role in helping spread the adoption of machine vision technology.

  As a global trade group, we very much welcome more active participation from Chinese companies.  One of the best ways for Chinese companies to get involved with AIA would be to attend our 14th annual AIA Business Conference in Orlando, February 1-3, 2006.  Some 175 machine vision industry executives from throughout the world will attend to hear talks on the global machine vision market and issues that impact their businesses.  The networking opportunities are unmatched!

Joe ：AIA通过视觉展览（The Vision Show，在美国东海岸和西海岸之间交替举办）、国际机器人和视觉展览（International Robots & Vision Show，每两年在芝加哥举办一次）等活动积极推广机器视觉工业的发展。这些展览中还包括了深层次的技术研讨会。此外，我们每年还举办针对特定主题的独立研讨会，例如关于机器人导向的机器视觉研讨会（Machine Vision for Robot Guidance）、关于制药和医学的机器视觉研讨会（Machine Vision for Pharmaceutical & Medical Applications），以及将在2006年举行的最新的关于汽车制造业应用的机器视觉研讨会（Machine Vision for Automotive Applications）。

 作为全球化的行业组织，我们很欢迎来自中国的企业能更多的参与。对于中国企业，参与AIA的最好方法就是参加我们2006年2月1号至3号在奥兰多举行的的第14届AIA商业年会。全球大约175个机器视觉行业经理将会参加此会议，聆听关于全球机器视觉市场及对其各自行业有影响的主题的讲演。这种广泛的交流和结识业内人士的机会可是不可多得的！

3、CV：虽然隔着宽广的海洋，然而中国机器视觉同行非常渴望了解美国以及世界机器视觉市场的发展现状及发展趋势。请会长先生介绍一下美国及世界机器视觉的近年来的发展情况，包括光源、工业镜头、工业相机、板卡及软件包、智能相机等市场的发展情况？

Joe： We believe machine vision technologies are now widely accepted throughout the world as a fundamental component required for realizing manufacturing automation which is a key to manufacturing competitiveness. Significant advances in the core software and semiconductor technologies which make up machine vision solutions have enabled the emergence of new generations of intelligent cameras which are a much more cost-effective way to solve machine vision requirements on the factory in comparison with older custom multiple board solutions.  The AIA produces an annual North American market study which attempts to measure the size, growth, projections and trends associated with all elements of the machine vision industry. Preliminary results of the study are presented each year at the annual AIA business conference in February, with the complete study being available for sale shortly thereafter.

Joe：作为提高制造竞争力，实现制造自动化的一个关键因素，我们认为机器视觉技术正在被世界各国所广泛接受。由于构成机器视觉解决方案的核心软件以及半导体科技的飞速发展，使得新一代智能相机得以出现。与旧有的用户定制多板卡式解决方案相比，智能相机为解决机器视觉需求提供了更为经济的解决方案。AIA对北美市场上机器视觉行业各组成部分的规模，发展，规划及趋势情况进行了年度调查。初步的调查结果将在2月的AIA商业年会上发布，之后不久，就可以通过购买得到完整的调查结果。

4、CV：目前，以康耐视、PPT等为代表的部分美国及世界各地的机器视觉企业纷纷进入中国市场。虽然中国经济发展迅速，可是机器视觉市场的发展却不容乐观。在这里，我想请教会长先生，贵协会会员对于目前的中国市场是否感兴趣？对中国市场了解有多少？主要通过什么渠道了解的呢？对于比较了解中国市场的人而言，他们如何看待中国机器视觉市场的现状及发展趋势？

Joe：First of all, there is strong interest from AIA and our members in learning more about the Chinese market.  Weve had speakers from China at our annual business conference and weve had speakers from North American companies talk about their own experiences doing business in China as well. Currently the AIA is exploring ways to bring a group of its members over to China to learn first-hand about the market.  Next, we believe that success in manufacturing in China is not just about low cost labor.  We believe that it is widely recognized that manufacturing operations in China are applying new technologies to their process at a rapid pace and that machine vision is a fundamental part of this process.

Joe：首先，AIA及其成员对于了解中国市场具有很强的兴趣。在我们的商业年会上就有来自中国的演讲者，而且我们还邀请了来自北美公司的演讲者讲述他们在中国做生意的一些亲身感受。当前，AIA正在寻求途径让一部分会员到中国去了解第一手的市场资料。其次，我们相信中国的制造业不能仅仅依靠低劳动力成本取得成功。我相信大家都已经认识到这样一种情况，即中国的制造行业正在加紧步伐将新技术应用到其制造过程中，而机器视觉就是其中的关键一步。

5、CV：目前，中国机器视觉行业正发起成立中国机器视觉俱乐部，俱乐部未来的发展方向是中国机器视觉协会，即类似AIA这样的组织，AIA是否愿意与该俱乐部建立广泛的交流与合作？您认为双方可以在哪些方面进行交流？可行的交流方式是什么呢？

Joe：We encourage the development of a Chinese Machine Vision Association, just as we have encouraged the development of other trade associations in Europe and Japan.  We would request that the organizers make sure that membership is open to any company that has a business interest in China in order to have open communications in this global marketplace.  AIA would be happy to work with a new association in China to openly exchange information, to support each others events, and to collectively promote the use of machine vision throughout the world.

Joe：就像我们曾鼓励欧洲和日本的那些行业协会的发展一样，我们鼓励中国的机器视觉协会的发展。我们只希望组织者能够确保任何对中国市场感兴趣的企业都能够参与协会，以便能够进行全球市场的公开交流。AIA乐于同中国的新协会合作进行公开的信息交换，支持彼此的活动，共同做好机器视觉的全球推广。

6、CV ：2006中国国际机器视觉展览会即将于2006年3月22日至24日中国上海隆重开幕，这是中国机器视觉行业的第一次盛会，届时希望能够邀请AIA及其他国家的协会组织前来参加。请问会长先生，您对于这样的展览会有何建议和意见？AIA以及您本人会前来参加吗？

Joe：It is most likely that a good number of AIA member companies will exhibit at the China Vision Exhibition with a number of key individuals from those companies attending, including me.  We think that a networking reception would be could idea to enable to people to meet, get to know each other, and exchange information and ideas.

Joe：许多AIA的会员企业的关键人物，包括我在内，都将会参加中国国际机器视觉展览会。我认为举办交流招待会可以更好的方便人们相识、了解以及交换信息和观点。
